frustrated beyond… I’m trying to cut a shape. i imported the shape as a jpeg, and sized it to 127mm x 254mm speed is 700 and power is 70% to cut display board. but no matter what I try I get this message … when I try to frame it cut…
Starting stream
ALARM:2
G-code motion target exceeds machine travel. Machine position safely retained. Alarm may be unlocked. (Right-click the ‘Devices’ button to reset the connection) [this does not work]
On or near line 2:
Then it will do nothing until I exit the program and turn the laser off and back on again…
Help I need this by tomorrow. there is another file as they are to be cut from one 20" board (I’ll move the board after the first cut. The final size for the first cut is 6.5" x 10" finished product is 6.6" x 20"

Oh sorry I have a Model S30 Pro Max

I am a new user. Only been a month and lots to figure out yet. I have burned a dozen or so things so far, but problems persist, probably my fault…

1. 700 mm/min in settings
2. how do I attach the screen shot?
3. Most always home before use. I have started from the center before, but usually from home.
4. Only use jogging to check if the laser moves before framing to be sure the wood is in the right
place.
Now it seems that no matter which pattern I use, it gives the same warning and the only way to start is to exit the program and turn off the laser.
I have tried to cut two different crosses all with the same results. So right now the laser is inoperable.

Okay. Sounds like most things are in good shape. As long as you home the laser when first starting LightBurn and then exclusively use jogging controls you should be in good shape.
One thing I would suggest is to change from “User Origin” as your Start From mode in Laser window to Absolute Coords. This is the most intuitive mode as basically your workspace in LightBurn mimics the physical bed of your laser. So where you place your design in LightBurn will match the equivalent location on your bed.
This should eliminate most messages of “Target exceeds machine travel”.
After you’re comfortable with the operation of the laser in Absolute Coords then you could experiment with the other modes.
