Recently, the scientific research team of the University of science and technology of China has made a major breakthrough in coherent wind lidar, achieving the world's highest spatial-temporal resolution high-speed wind field observation of 3 meters and 0.1 seconds for the first time. This achievement was published in the international academic journal optical express a few days ago.

The detection of atmospheric wind field with meter resolution is of great significance in aerospace safety, high-value target guarantee, numerical weather prediction and so on. In order to obtain a wind field with a spatial-temporal resolution of 3 meters and 0.1 seconds, it is necessary to improve the detection sensitivity of the existing lidar signal by more than 2 orders of magnitude. By comprehensively optimizing the laser light source, optical transceiver system, high-speed data acquisition circuit and data processing algorithm, the scientific research team proposed a new inversion algorithm, which greatly improved the accuracy and robustness of wind field inversion, and finally realized a set of nationally produced "product grade" test prototype, which has the characteristics of human eye safety, portable equipment (40 kg of packaged equipment), stable operation, strong environmental adaptability and so on.

In order to further test the radar observation performance and environmental adaptability, the scientific research team used the radar to measure the wind field structure in the wake of high-speed trains at high-speed railway stations. The radar worked continuously and stably for more than 100 hours under unattended conditions, and obtained 350km/h continuous observation of high-speed rail wake at a high spatial-temporal resolution of 3 meters and 0.1 seconds.
