Compared with many traditional surface treatment technologies, laser cladding technology has the following significant advantages and characteristics:

1. High metallurgical bonding strength. Laser cladding uses the extremely high concentrated energy of high-energy laser beam to instantly micro fuse the surface of the workpiece, while completely melting the alloy powder preset on the surface of the workpiece or automatically transported synchronously with the laser beam. After laser beam scanning, the substrate is rapidly solidified by self cooling, and a dense coating alloy layer combined with the substrate metallurgy is obtained.

2. Optional hardness and thickness. After laser cladding, the hardness of the cladding layer can be selected between hrc20-62, and the cladding thickness can be adjusted as needed.

3. Wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Laser cladding can form corrosion resistance, wear resistance and excellent alloy layer on the surface of ordinary carbon steel workpiece, so as to prolong the service life of the workpiece.

4. Reduce costs and energy consumption. Laser cladding can produce high-performance alloy functional layers on low-cost substrates by forming alloy coatings with different metallurgical bonding, alloy composition and properties on the substrate surface, so as to save material costs.

5. High quality cladding. Small deformation, good mechanical repeatability, dense interface structure, fine grains, no holes, cracks and other defects.
