The maker of precision optical components and systems has received significant investment

Apollo Optical Systems, a US designer and manufacturer of precision optical components and systems, has announced that it has secured a significant investment from Pike Street Capital, a Seattle-based private equity firm.

Apollo Optical Systems is headquartered in the Rochester, New York area (a renowned center of optical technology innovation) and serves OEM customers in the industrial metering, VR, commercial, LED lighting, medical instruments, automotive sensors and lidar, and defense markets.

Pike Street Capital principals have leadership, operational and investment experience in optical technologies including Radiant Vision Systems (USA) and Zemax, now owned by Konica Minolta and Ansys, respectively. The team expects to build Apollo Optical Systems' platform by investing in additional businesses with complementary value propositions and technology solutions.

Apollo Optical Systems was founded in 2002 by Dr. G Michael Morris, who will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the company. G Michael Morris is an industry expert in the field of diffraction and microphotonics technology research and commercial applications. Building on the expertise of Dr G Michael Morris, the business has worked with customers throughout the entire product development cycle, from design through prototyping to final manufacturing and assembly of optical components and systems.
