Precision Coating, a provider of surface coating solutions for orthopedic implants, announced that it has acquired Providence Texture, a laser service provider.
According to the presentation, Providence Texture has a core competency in laser nanotexturing, marking and microprocessing. Upon completion of this acquisition, they will bring Precision Coating innovative surface technology, a knowledgeable team and the ability to integrate laser technology into its current portfolio of coatings and surface treatments, including ion implantation, anode coatings and fluoropolymer coatings.
"We are very pleased to welcome Providence Texture to Precision Coating," said Bill Ellerkamp, President of Precision Coating. We have developed a good working relationship with their team and have partnered with them on a range of projects that have brought significant benefits to our clients. We are up and running and excited about the complementary nature of their services.
The potential for these surface technologies across the industry is huge. We are excited about the prospect of using these technologies to provide our orthopedic customers with laser nanotexturing, labeling and micromachining services for medical implants and devices. We see opportunities for laser technology to enhance bone integration, antibacterial action, surface integrity, smart implant design and product serialization."
"This acquisition marks another step forward in Precision Coating's goal of becoming a leading surface technology partner in the medical technology industry by providing highly engineered functional surfaces," he added.
Providence Texture founder Matt Melonio has joined the company as Senior Director and General Manager of Laser Services. Commenting on the acquisition, he said: "I and everyone at Providence Texture are thrilled to be joining the Precision Coating team. Precision Coating became a client of Providence Texture shortly after I founded it in 2016, and has enabled us to customise much of our processes to mass workflows. Over the years, we've grown into a true extension of their manufacturing process, and this acquisition feels like a natural progression. This will enable us to further refine our laser processes and offer a wider range of services and expertise to our customers. We look forward to capturing these possibilities and new opportunities."
