On June 27, NLM Photonics announced that it has secured $1 million in new financing to further commercialize its products, including partnerships with fabs and hyperscale data center operators.

The round of financing was led by Tokyo Ohka Kogyo Co. , LTD, hereinafter referred to as "TOK") and Hamamatsu Photonics K. K. Hamamatsu Photonics (hereinafter referred to as "Hamamatsu Photonics") is the world's leading supplier of advanced electronic materials manufacturing and key semiconductor industries, while the latter is a major player in the field of photonic components.

This is TOK's first investment in NLM Photonics and Hamamatsu's second investment in NLM Photonics (the first was in June 2022). TOK's investment also includes a partnership to develop commercially available inks containing NLM Photonics proprietary materials.

"This strategic investment will facilitate NLM Photonics' collaboration with semiconductor founts and their customers," said Lewis E., NLM co-founder and chief Scientific Officer. "We are excited to work with TOK to accelerate the deployment of our material and continue to work with Hamamatsu Photonics on the next phase," said Dr. Johnson.

"TOK recognizes that the volume of data sent over the Internet continues to grow exponentially, making it imperative to develop and commercialize low-power data transmission technologies. "TOK is pleased to partner with NLM Photonics to bring potential new technologies that can reduce the power consumption of transmitted data," said Yusuke Narumi, Director, Officer and Manager, New Business Development Department, TOK.

"With this follow-on investment, we will continue to support NLM Photonics in the development of excellent organic Photonics (EO) materials and are optimistic that they can contribute to the development of Hamamatsu Photonics' future products," said Katsuhiro Kobayashi, CEO of Hamamatsu Photonics' corporate venture capital company.

This latest funding round confirms NLM Photonics' strong research and development and groundbreaking impact in hybrid organic EO modulation materials and process technology, paving the way for its continued commercialization. Hybrid organic EO modulation solves a key pain point in computing and networking, reducing the energy cost of network bandwidth and thus meeting the needs of today's computing era.

About NLM Photonics

Headquartered in Seattle and Paris, NLM Photonics works with its global partners to develop cutting-edge electro-optic and photonics solutions for transforming networks, computing and sensing. NLM Photonics' technology enables the transfer of data between low-voltage, low-power, high-performance electronics - ubiquitous computer chips - and photonics, which is used in fiber optics, liDAR, and other breakthrough technologies. NLM Photonics' technology enables a tighter and more efficient integration of current electrons and ultrafine photons.
