As an important part of mechanical tools, gear transmission accuracy has a vital impact on the accuracy of automation applications. The main factors that affect the gear transmission accuracy include: gear machining accuracy, gear accuracy grade, gear pair clearance requirements and gear pair contact point requirements.

Generally, the radial error of gear can be reflected by measuring the radial runout of gear ring. The main causes of gear radial error during gear cutting are as follows:
1. During adjustment and fixture, the center of rotation motion of the spindle and the machine tool workbench does not coincide.
2. There is a gap between the tooth blank base hole and the main shaft, which is biased to one side when clamping.
3. The positioning of the reference end face is not good, and the inner hole is eccentric after clamping.
The tangential error of gear refers to the error that the relative theoretical position of the actual tooth profile moves along the circumference (tangential) when gear hobbing. When the tangential displacement occurs, it can be reflected by measuring the length variation tolerance of the common normal.
The main reason of gear tangential error during gear cutting is the transmission error of transmission chain. Among the transmission elements of the gear dividing transmission chain, the indexing worm gear under the workbench has the greatest impact on the transmission error. During manufacturing and installation, the indexing worm gear does not coincide with the rotary center of the workbench (eccentric motion), resulting in the rotary angle error of the workbench, which is reflected on the gear. Secondly, another important factor affecting the transmission error is the manufacturing and installation error of the indexing gear, and these errors are also transferred to the workbench in a large proportion.
