Laser cutting is an efficient automated processing method that utilizes a highly energy dense laser beam to rapidly evaporate and irradiate a portion of the material. By moving the laser, a cutting seam is formed to achieve the cutting purpose. Laser cutting, as an intelligent CNC machine tool, can automatically identify materials and start processing through various methods, and automatic edge inspection processing is one of the most widely used processes.

Laser automatic edge scanning is a visual laser processing technology that uses visual recognition to mark points, automatically locate pattern edges, and begin processing. This visual recognition method, also known as Mark point positioning processing, uses marked points for positioning. Mark points are usually black solid circles, set in the top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right corners of the pattern. Depending on the situation, the number of Mark points can be nested, or other shapes or parts of the processed pattern can be set as Mark points.

The control system uses Mark points to locate the placement of patterns. After the camera scans each Mark point, it can calculate the area that needs to be processed based on the relative distance between the Mark point and the pattern, and then start laser cutting processing. This processing method, due to its simple recognition and fixed distance, can achieve high-precision processing, with a processing accuracy typically reaching around 0.01mm.

To achieve laser automatic edge inspection processing, a laser automatic edge inspection system is required. Due to the need for visual recognition function, the price of such control systems will be higher than that of ordinary laser control systems. The current mainstream laser control system is the motion control card, so this type of control system is also known as the laser automatic edge patrol control card.

The motion control card is a PC based upper control unit that needs to be used in conjunction with the laser software on the PC. Each brand of laser automatic edge patrol control card will have corresponding supporting software. This type of software has many similarities with other computer software in terms of user interface and interaction process, making it relatively easy to get started and friendly to beginners.

The key to automatic edge inspection lies in the accuracy of camera recognition, so it is necessary to calibrate the camera before starting processing. In addition, the hardware condition of the equipment also has a significant impact on processing, which needs to be determined and debugged before processing. Overall, laser automatic edge scanning processing is not difficult to use, easy to operate, and has high accuracy and speed, making it an ideal visual recognition processing method.
