When I select the ‘square’ option then put text inside, I only get one cut/layer line, so it all gets cut out or burned. I want to make and cut patches without cutting the Lester’s out inside of it

1. Select text
2. Assign text onto a different layer by selecting one of the colored squares at the bottom of the screen
3. Set appropriate Cut Settings for the newly assigned layer in Cuts / Layers window
