In November 2024, based on the mutual trust and cooperation over the past years, the Munich Shanghai Optical Expo and the Light Academic Publishing Center of the Changchun Institute of Optics, Precision Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "Light Center") reached a consensus on further strategic development as they ushered in the year of disruptive scientific and technological revolution. The two sides will unite into a more solid organic whole, show the power of 1+1>2, and promote the deep integration and application of laser optoelectronic industry and quantum science and technology.

In 2025, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Munich Shanghai Light Expo, we will collaborate with the Light Center to create the "Light Conference on Laser&Quantum". As a barometer of advanced laser and optoelectronic technology innovation in Asia, the exhibition attracts professionals in "optical" manufacturing technology to gather together every year. At the important moment of the 20th anniversary, the close cooperation between the Munich Shanghai Light Expo and the Light Center will also add a significant touch to the celebration of the exhibition.

The Light Academic Publishing Center (referred to as the "Light Center"), as an internationally renowned academic platform, is committed to promoting research and innovation in cutting-edge fields such as optics, optoelectronics, and quantum science. It gathers excellent research achievements from around the world and, with its strict academic standards and extensive international academic network, continuously promotes the dissemination and exchange of cutting-edge technological knowledge. Its leading flagship journals, Light: Science&Applications, high starting sub journals eLight, Light: Advanced Manufacturing, etc., are internationally renowned and provide profound academic support for the conference. At the "Light Conference on Laser&Quantum" scheduled for March 11-13, 2025, the focus will be on exploring how laser and quantum technologies have become important forces in developing new quality productivity, with the aim of creating an international exchange platform that deeply integrates academia and industry. The conference focuses on two key themes: laser processing and manufacturing, and quantum technology.

Laser processing technology is an advanced technology that integrates optics, electromechanics, materials, and detection. It has the advantages of high precision, fast speed, small deformation, no material loss, and easy automation integration, which is in line with the trend of advanced manufacturing such as intelligent manufacturing and green manufacturing. According to research institutions, the global laser processing market size is expected to reach 22.27 billion US dollars in 2023 and is projected to increase to 24.02 billion US dollars by 2024. In the future, with the increasing demand for efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly production in rapidly growing vertical industries such as electronics, healthcare, and material processing, it will become an important consumer market for laser processing technology.

In 2025, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the birth of modern quantum mechanics, the United Nations has officially declared 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. Quantum technology is an emerging technology based on the principles of quantum mechanics. The development of quantum technology has significant scientific significance and strategic value, and the definition of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology marks the positive role of quantum theory in building a modern technological society. Laser, as an important device in quantum technology, plays a crucial role in quantum computing, quantum precision measurement, and quantum communication.

This forum aims to outline the innovative development of optoelectronic and quantum technologies for as many professionals in the laser, optoelectronic, and even quantum industries as possible, deeply interpret technological applications and scientific achievements, and jointly look forward to the infinite future and welcome technological storms.

The strategic cooperation between the two institutions combines the advantages of academia and industry, providing valuable opportunities for interdisciplinary innovation in the fields of laser and quantum technology. It will also lay the foundation for the establishment of a more long-term and good cooperation between the Munich Shanghai Light Expo and the Light Center, opening up new horizons and exploring infinite innovative technologies for the laser and optoelectronic industries to move towards higher levels of development.

Munich Shanghai Light Expo, Honor for 20 Years
The Munich Shanghai Light Expo, based on the Munich Expo Group in Germany, has been established in Shanghai since 2006, targeting the Chinese market, radiating to the Asia Pacific region, and deeply connecting high-quality enterprises and buyers in the laser, optical, and optoelectronic industries in Asia and even the world. The exhibition collaborates with domestic and foreign optoelectronic professionals to actively promote the display of scientific and technological achievements, promote international cooperation and exchanges, jointly explore the future development direction of the optoelectronic industry, focus on new technologies and trends, promote the industry to move towards higher levels and wider fields, and provide strong support and backing for technological innovation to lead high-quality development. The year 2025 coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Munich Shanghai Light Expo, which will be held grandly at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from March 11th to 13th, 2025. The exhibition area has exceeded 100000 square meters for the first time, and the number of exhibitors has reached a historic high, showcasing the brilliant achievements and unlimited potential of the laser, optical, and optoelectronic industries.

About Light Academic Publishing Center
The Light Academic Publishing Center (hereinafter referred to as the Light Center) is an important supporting department responsible for academic journal publishing and knowledge dissemination services of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Changchun Institute of Optics, Precision Mechanics and Physics (hereinafter referred to as the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Mechanics). Focusing on the development positioning, research direction, and disciplinary layout of Changchun Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, fully leveraging the leading journal to drive demonstration, and forming an effective mechanism for complementary advantages and collaborative development of scientific and technological journals with "regional development, interdisciplinary studies, and talent cultivation" as the core, Light Center is established domestically and faces the international community, creating a Light brand journal cluster with Chinese characteristics and international influence.
