2023-05-10Are you attempting to cut a light colored fabric? You may be facing the same challenges that folks discover when they are cutting white cardstock. Bright white materials can reflect blue light which makes cutting a challenge. If you’re working with colorfast dyed material… It may be worth testing with a washing soda or a baking soda pre-treatment solution. This causes light colored wood fibers to engrave much darker and more consistently. It also allows users to engrave with lower power. I’m optimistic that the cotton fibers would behave similarly to wood and may also darken more consistently and cut more readily. This type of pretreatment is often effective enough to warrant developing new material settings for your cutting operations. Most fabric cutting I’ve seen was done with a CO2 / DSP laser.
