Industrial laser developer Coherent has announced the launch of a new Monaco industrial ultraviolet (UV) femtosecond laser with an output power of 50 W. The company stated that this new laser is the first 50 W 400 fs ultraviolet laser with mature 24/7 industrial grade performance, making it very suitable for high-speed and large-scale cutting of stacked OLED displays.
This type of laser is used for cutting OLED displays after complete production, which is why Coherent uses the term stacked OLED (it does not refer to OLED displays with stacked or series transmitter designs). Laser cutting can achieve shapes, notches, and holes. Coherent Update said that it has installed more than 800 sets of Monaco laser systems worldwide (although not all of them are in OLED display factories, Monaco systems are also used for other applications).
Monaco 345-25-50 provides pulses with energy up to 25 µ J in UV at a repetition rate of up to 2 MHz with a pulse width of less than 400 fs. It includes all standard features of the Monaco platform, including on-demand pulse, variable pulse width tuning, variable repetition rate, and flexible seeder burst mode. Based on its compact size and true single box design, it is easy to integrate into tools.
