Coherent Company is a leader in industrial lasers, and today launched the PowerLine PS 30 picosecond laser engraving machine for corrosion-resistant black marking and precision micro machining in medical equipment manufacturing.
The growing demand for permanent black markings on medical devices that are not affected by passivation and high-pressure sterilization cycles has driven the demand for efficient, reliable, and cost-effective laser technology. PowerLine PS 30 has a high average power and can quickly perform black marking and micro machining tasks, greatly increasing production volume and cost of ownership while maintaining very high reliability.
"Traceability in medical device manufacturing is critical, which is why black marking must meet the strict requirements of readability and durability," said Dr. Alexander Roth, Vice President and Managing Director of Laser System Business Department. The use of laser technology for marking and micro processing can achieve production scale while maintaining high quality levels during rapid production growth. PowerLine PS 30 provides customers with fast investment returns. In addition, the integration and operation of this subsystem are extremely simple, allowing our customers to maximize labor efficiency
For customers seeking a turnkey solution, PowerLine PS 30 can be integrated into the ExactMark 230 USP system. The new Laser FrameWork software suite seamlessly integrates visual, tag validation, and other processes into an intuitive user interface. The software interface enables faster job settings, higher operator productivity, and fewer production errors, all of which require minimal operator training.
The Laser FrameWork software includes several powerful utilities, including PartVision, an embedded machine vision feature. PartVision eliminates the cost of custom fixtures and shortens the time between production conversions, thanks to its ability to automatically locate parts and adjust machine operations as needed to ensure that laser markers or other features are correctly and accurately placed. It can also obtain post-processing images for content validation, quality control, and traceability.
