2023-09-07There are a few reasons for the error to present and a few quick cures. The origin or coordinate system is set poorly or poorly specified. The quick cure is switching to ‘Absolute Coordinates’ and testing the Jog arrows in the Move window to see if the map in LightBurn matches the map in the Laser engraver. If the two origins don’t match the jog arrow behavior will be reversed in the direction(s) of the error. The project is too large, or too close to the travel limit for the engraver. Along the top row of icons in LightBurn, toward the middle, you’ll see the Preview Icon. It looks like a small flat-panel monitor. Select this. When the Preview window opens, select the switch along the bottom of the window that says Show Traversal Moves. When the switch is selected, non-cutting travel moves from the engraver are shown. Engrave speed excessively high. If you’re engraving an image, having a poorly selected high engrave speed can increase Overscan; an allowed distance to overshoot the image, slow to a stop, and reverse direction. It’s most often seen on both the Left side and Right side of the image. If the red or pink traverse areas are large beside an image in the preview window, please share your engrave speed and the units mm/minute or mm/second that you’re working with. Happy troubleshooting.
