04-12The biggest problem with the stepper motor is losing its step. Many times, servo motors are used in scenarios without stepper motors because they lose step. What is losing step? There is no feedback. If there is an encoder installed on the motor, or if the stepper motor comes with a shaft, the other end of the shaft will have an encoder feedback, and the control system will record it again. Assuming that 10000 steps have been taken and the encoder feedback shows that one step was lost in 9999 steps, the program can compensate for it by allowing it to take another step. This solves the problem of step loss in the stepper motor. I think the future trend of stepper motors and servo motors will definitely be bus based, with position control and closed-loop.
