Chain transmission mode
The transmission method of chain transmission is to use a closed metal chain to bypass the large and small sprockets, rely on the meshing of chain teeth and chain links, and transmit the motion of the active sprocket to the driven sprocket, and make it rotate accordingly.
Types of chain drives
Due to its applicability in many different mechanical applications, various chain drive designs have been developed. According to the selection criteria, it can be divided into different categories. When classified according to their functions, chain drives can be divided into three main types.
1. Power transmission chain transmission
2. Conveyor chain drive
3. Crane traction chain transmission
The Motion Characteristics of Chain Transmission
Chain drive is a mechanical power transmission system that uses chains to transfer power from one place to another. The traditional chain transmission device consists of two or more sprockets and the chain itself. The holes on the chain links are installed on the sprocket teeth. When the prime mover rotates, the chain wrapped around the shaft sprocket also rotates accordingly. This applies mechanical force to the driven shaft, transmitting mechanical power during this process.
1. The average transmission of chain transmission is more accurate than belt transmission. Chain transmission belongs to meshing transmission, without slipping phenomenon, and the transmission ratio should be precise and stable. However, due to the polygonal effect of chain transmission, the fluctuation of chain speed is more obvious. Therefore, the accurate transmission refers to the relatively accurate average transmission ratio. Due to the presence of multi angle effects, the noise of chain transmission is relatively high.
2. Due to the free rotation between chain links, chain transmission also has certain vibration absorption and impact resistance, but it is worse than belt transmission, and the fluctuation of working resistance has a more significant impact on the prime mover.
3. The center distance of the chain drive is relatively large and adjustable, making it easy to restore the performance of the chain drive.
4. Due to the existence of the polygonal effect, chain transmission is generally not suitable for high-speed levels. If it is necessary to install chain drive at the high-speed level, silent chain or toothed chain drive should be used.
5. Due to the fatigue damage of the chain link hinge, the pitch of the chain transmission increases, leading to chain detachment and transmission failure.
6. There is relative sliding between the chain link and the sprocket teeth, and lubricating oil (grease) needs to be added when using.
