1、 Analysis of the causes of oil leakage in the gearbox:
Oil leakage is more common in gearboxes, with particularly prominent leakage at the seals of the drive and driven shaft heads, especially at the sealing ring of the drive shaft. In addition, there are three other common oil leakage locations, including oil leakage along the gearbox joint surface, sight hole cover, and oil drain hole. The oil leakage problem at the sight hole cover and oil drain hole is often caused by incomplete tightening of the fixing bolts or failure to install sealing gaskets.
During the assembly process of the gearbox, if there are residual iron filings on the mating surface, it can cause the mating surface to be uneven, leading to oil leakage problems. In addition, with the long-term use of the reducer, the housing may deform, causing uneven and loose fitting of the box surface, which can lead to oil leakage.

2、 Prevention and elimination methods for oil leakage in reducers:
To prevent oil leakage from the gearbox, a series of measures can be taken. Firstly, the sealing ring cover should adopt an easily detachable structure for easy replacement and maintenance. Secondly, the sealing ring should be designed with an open structure to reduce friction and wear. In addition, the oil return hole at the input shaft bearing should be appropriately enlarged to ensure smooth return of lubricating oil.

To prevent oil leakage caused by deformation of the casing, the gearbox casing can be subjected to aging treatment. The methods of time treatment include natural failure, artificial time treatment, and vibration time treatment, and appropriate methods can be selected according to the actual situation for treatment. At the same time, a circular oil groove is machined on the mating surface of the reducer base, and multiple return oil holes are set up to connect with the circular oil groove. In this way, once lubricating oil seeps into the joint surface, it can smoothly enter the annular oil groove and flow back into the oil tank through the return hole, effectively preventing lubricating oil from leaking out along the joint surface.

When assembling the gearbox, a layer of sealant (such as D05 silicone rubber sealant) should be applied on the mating surface to enhance the sealing performance of the mating surface. In addition, it is necessary to maintain a normal oil level to avoid problems such as loss of agitation power, decreased lubrication performance, and increased leakage caused by excessive lubricating oil. At the same time, installing sealing gaskets and tightening bolts at the sight hole cover and oil drain hole, as well as increasing the return oil hole of the output shaft, can effectively prevent oil leakage.

Improve the breathable cap and inspection hole cover plate. Due to the higher internal pressure of the gearbox than the external atmospheric pressure, this is often the main cause of oil leakage problems. In order to balance internal and external pressures, it is possible to consider increasing the design of ventilation holes to prevent oil leakage caused by pressure differences. Meanwhile, the inspection hole cover plate needs to be frequently opened during the refueling process, which increases the risk of oil leakage. Therefore, optimizing the design of breathable caps and inspection hole cover plates is crucial for reducing oil leakage.
