Recently, Lidrotec, a wafer cutting laser technology company headquartered in Bochum, Germany, announced that the company successfully won the highest prize of 1 million dollars in the final of Luminate 2022.
It is reported that Lidrotec is currently applying for a patent technology that can achieve thinner cutting ports, almost 0% damage rate, and significantly save costs and improve productivity.
The innovation of this technology is to efficiently use the liquid in the laser processing area to cool and wash the wafer while laser cutting the chip. This fine operation does not need to adjust the production process, and is expected to achieve thinner cutting, higher precision, faster processing speed, without damaging materials, and clean surfaces are completely free of debris.
Alexander Igelmann, CEO of Lidrotec, received the bonus of US $1 million. He said that the company would use this fund to strengthen its business activities in the U.S. market, especially in Rochester, New York, and help Lidrotec develop and build the next prototype, which is intended to be a demonstration tool and will obtain purchase orders.

Lidrotec won the "Company of the Year Award" this time, and will receive the above $1 million prize through the Finger Lakes Forward Upstate Revitalization Initiative program. With the help of Luminate's resource docking, Lidrotec was introduced into AIM Photonics, a joint research institution under the National Manufacturing Innovation Network Program of the United States. This cooperation will help Lidrotec build the infrastructure to develop the next iteration of its technology and implement its plan to build its US business.
It is reported that Lidrotec was founded in Germany and has set up an operating entity in the United States. Alexander Igelmann said that the United States is a huge market for the company in the semiconductor industry, and it is obvious that Lidrotec needs to target this market. He said: "Luminate has provided us with a new network to enter the United States, expanding our contacts with more suppliers and customers. These crucial connections will help us reach milestones in the next two years, including the market validation of our new laser technology."
