Glenn Semiconductor is mainly engaged in the R&D, production and sales of high-end compound semiconductor epitaxial materials, chips and devices. At present, it has the capacity to mass produce high-power semiconductor lasers, ultraviolet LEDs and high-power LEDs. Many products have been replaced by domestic ones. It is the only enterprise in China to mass produce GaN based semiconductor laser chips.
The GaN based semiconductor blue-green laser chip market has been monopolized by Japanese and German enterprises for a long time. Foreign enterprises occupy most of the markets for laser lighting, laser display, automobile headlights and laser industrial welding. Relevant technologies and processes are kept confidential. The development of downstream domestic manufacturers is constrained by the price and supply of related chips and devices, and they are in urgent need of domestic suppliers to provide alternative products. At present, Glenn Semiconductor is a domestic manufacturer with both technical and mass production capabilities. It has blue-green semiconductor lasers and high-power LED production lines. It is also one of the few enterprises in the world that has epitaxial growth, chip development and device packaging capacity in this field.
Gaen Semiconductor was jointly founded by leading talents in compound semiconductor field at home and abroad. The core team members have more than 10 years of rich experience in compound semiconductor R&D and industrialization, and the main technical backbones include returned overseas students and experts from key universities such as Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, University of Science and Technology of China, as well as leading enterprises in the semiconducting industry at home and abroad.
With years of research and development and production experience in compound semiconductor, especially GaN materials, the team overcame a series of technical difficulties, including designing asymmetric barrier structures, improving indium precipitation through parameter control, bench pretreatment, special doping, controlling defect density, chip flip structure design, improving cavity surface fabrication technology, chip level eutectic welding, etc., and realized mass production of blue-green laser chips.

In addition to thermal conductivity, other key parameters of the third generation semiconductor material GaN are the best among many semiconductor materials. Therefore, GaN is widely used, mainly including photoelectric chips (LED chips, laser chips), power chips and RF chips. At present, domestic ordinary LED chips have been replaced by domestic ones, but high-power LED chips, laser chips, power chips and RF chips still need to strengthen independent research and development.
From the perspective of industry chain, the GaN industry chain is divided into substrate, epitaxy, chip and device. Due to the variety of downstream applications, it is necessary to make different epitaxial layers, design and manufacture different chip structures for different applications. The addition, precipitation control and vertical structure manufacturing of epitaxial layer metal materials have a high technical threshold, and epitaxial and chip are inseparable. Therefore, the mainstream mode of industrial division is that substrate enterprises specialize in substrate growth, and epitaxy and chip design, manufacturing and packaging are completed in the same enterprise.
SDIC Chuanghe focuses on IDM enterprises that master mass production substrate growth technology or epitaxial and chip design and manufacturing technology at the same time. Glenn Semiconductor not only aims at laser chips and high-power LED chips that need to be replaced by domestic products, but also lays out power chips and RF chips.
