Recently, the "National Integrated Circuit Innovation Center - Saili Technology Silicon Optics Joint Laboratory", which carries out high-end research, development and industrialization of silicon photonic chips in China, was officially unveiled in Zhangjiang, Shanghai.
It is reported that the "National Integrated Circuit Innovation Center - Saili Technology Silicon Optics Joint Laboratory" will learn from the experience of integrated circuit development, first solve the non-standard problems in the design and processing of silicon photonic chips, cooperate with leading foundry in the field of integrated circuits, establish and improve the underlying biological system, and rapidly promote the scale and standardization of silicon photonic chip industry.
The joint laboratory will promote a series of cutting-edge silicon photonic technologies, such as silicon III-V hetero integrated lasers and amplifiers, all silicon photodetectors, high-performance micro ring resonators based on thin film lithium niobate, waveguide coupling structures based on 3D lithography technology, optical quantum devices, tunable silicon interferometers that can connect neural networks, etc., so as to realize the high-speed optical interconnection interface of silicon optical technology in photoelectric co packaging, high-performance neural network optical computing Application and product landing in virtual and augmented reality, biosensors and medical, auto driving and other fields.
In recent years, Shanghai has clearly put forward the development of photonic chips and devices, focusing on the R&D and application of new generation photonic devices such as silicon photons, optical communication devices, photonic chips, etc., and focusing on tackling key problems in the research of photonic device modularization technology, CMOS based silicon photonic process, chip integration technology, optoelectronic integrated module packaging technology, etc. At the same time, silicon light was included in the first batch of municipal major projects.
Under the policy support, the National Integrated Circuit Innovation Center, the main body of the Joint Laboratory, was officially inaugurated in Shanghai in July 2018. The Innovation Center is jointly launched by Fudan University, SMIC International and Huahong Group. It is planned to build a national research and development platform for IC generic technology around 2025 and become a global influential IC generic technology innovation institution.
Saili Technology is a fabless chip design company established in 2021. Based on semiconductor materials, it uses silicon based CMOS, MEMS platforms, Chiplet, TSV and other advanced packaging technologies to achieve high integration of optoelectronic chips. Its products are used in automotive electronics, high-speed data communications, biosensors and other fields.
