Edinburgh laser start-up Chromacity received a financing of 1 million pounds

On December 21, Chromacity, a laser pioneer headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, announced that it had successfully obtained a capital injection of 1 million pounds and appointed two new directors. The company will focus on further business expansion.

 

The new £ 1 million financing is led by EOS, Kelvin Capital and Scottish Enterprise and will be used to invest in key infrastructure to support the company's sustainable development in the industrial market.

 

Chromacity's main business is to produce lasers for industrial applications and academic research. The company has developed a new generation of "ultra fast lasers with reasonable price, reliability and simple use".

Shahida Imani, CEO of Chromacity, said: "We will continue to build a global reputation for providing high-quality lasers for life science research, but this fund will also support growth opportunities in the industrial market, including semiconductor testing, national defense and environmental sensing."

 

At the same time of obtaining financing, Chromacy also announced the appointment of two new directors.

 

Among them, Robert Black is an experienced executive director and non-executive director in photonics, IT and robotics industries. He will join the company as non-executive chairman. Robert Black is also the CEO of SeeByte, a software company. He invested a lot in the development of the company before he left in 2013.

 

He said: "Ultrafast laser is promoting innovation in a wide range of application fields. Chromacity will subvert the industry with its high-performance and low-cost systems. I am very happy to join the board of directors at this important moment of company expansion."

 

Richard Laming, a scholar, founder, executive director and non-executive director of optoelectronics, MEMS and electronic technology businesses, joined the board of directors of Chromacity. The new Board member joined Graham Miller, Head of Sales Development, Molecular Spectroscopy, Agilent Technologies.
