As a leader in the field of high-power semiconductor lasers, Coherent Gaoyi (NASDAQ: COHR) today announced the launch of a new generation of pump laser diodes, breaking the industry record and achieving a high output power of 50 W with a single chip.
In various material processing applications such as cutting, welding, marking and additive manufacturing, the deployment of fiber lasers is accelerating, driving the demand for cost reduction and efficiency increase through key components, that is, reducing the cost of output power per watt. Coherent's new generation of laser diodes has achieved an output power of 50 W, a 40% leap forward from the existing products, which supports the design of high power industrial fiber lasers that only need to integrate fewer pump laser diodes.

The optional operating wavelengths of the new generation of 50 W laser diodes are 915 nm and 976 nm. The output surface width of the laser chip is between 150 μ M to 350 μ M, can support various fiber laser designs to achieve optimal coupling efficiency and output power. The chip integrates Coherent's exclusive E2 front mirror passivation technology, which can prevent the laser from catastrophic damage even under extremely high output power.
Coherent can provide various forms of pump laser diodes, including bare chips, ceramic substrate packages or fiber-coupled multi-transmitter modules. Coherent Gaoyi also supplies a variety of fiber laser components, including seed lasers, acoustooptic modulators, fiber Bragg gratings, kilowatt pump/signal combiners, and IBS coated laser optics and high-power isolator micro-optics.
Coherent will participate in the BioOS and Photonics West Optoelectronics Exhibition held in San Francisco, USA from January 28 to February 2 to display its differentiated solutions in the fields of life science, industry and sensing.
