Hi Im looking to finish off my first cut with my Xtool D1 Pro 20W, I have changed all the lines to the correct for cutting both inner and outer cuts. The lightburn software setting for both inner and outer cuts is set to 7.9/100, I have it set to inches so I think that the cut is inches as well, is that to slow and is cutting always done at 100 percent? I cutting 3mm birch ply and can’t find recommended settings for materials, I assume that there are recommended setting for materials but I don’t know where to look for them.

Thanks
Mike / laser newbie

I never run my diode at 100%, the highest I have been is 85%, I hope this will mean my laser will last longer, time will tell !
For info, I always run a material test (found in the laser tools dropdown) prior to using any new material it is a tad time consuming but well worth it in the long run.
When cutting I also prefer to use the highest speed lowest power possible and run at least a couple of passes.
At the end of the day it is down to trial and error, also keep notes and build up the material library.
For info, my setting for 3mm Birch ply on my 7W output diode is 300mm/m at 85% power and 2 passes (sometimes 3) with air assist
