Jenopik continued to maintain its profit growth in the third quarter, with its operating revenue increasing by 34.4% to 698 million euros (the previous year: 519.5 million euros), mainly due to the continued strong performance of the Advanced Photon Solutions division. The total revenue of the two companies acquired by Jenopik Medical and Swiss Optical Group in 2021 is 117.8 million euros.
As in previous quarters, Jenopik achieved growth in all regions, with Europe (including Germany) achieving the largest growth of 47.8% due to acquisition; The strategic focus areas in Asia/Pacific and the Americas grew by about 20 per cent. Overall, 76.3% of the income came from abroad (81.5% the previous year).
Continued positive demand backlog of EUR 749.8 million
The positive trend in demand continues. Under the dual effects of organic and acquisition, the order volume increased by 32.1% to 884.5 million euros (the previous year: 669.6 million euros). The growth of Advanced Photon Solutions and Intelligent Mobile Solutions is in the range of double-digit percentages. The backlog of orders reached 749.8 million euros, a record high, an increase of 38% over the figure at the end of 2021.
Continuous growth of semiconductor equipment business
In the first nine months of 2022, the revenue of this sector increased by 51.4% to 529.1 million euros (349.6 million euros in the previous year). In the first nine months of this year, the business of the semiconductor equipment industry continued to grow, and the biophotonics and optical testing and measurement also created considerable revenue. As of September 30, 2022, the sector continued to enjoy strong customer demand. Driven by the development of semiconductor equipment industry, biophotonics and industrial solutions, the order volume increased by 43.5% to 670.5 million euros (the previous year: 467.1 million euros). The order backlog increased from € 430.2 million at the end of 2021 to € 588.9 million.
The backlog of orders for smart mobile solutions has improved significantly
The business of Smart Mobile Solutions continued to recover in the third quarter. Quarterly revenue increased 5.4% to 31.1 million euros. In the first nine months of this year, the department achieved a cumulative revenue of 75.8 million euros, up 4.8% from 72.3 million euros last year. By the end of September 2022, the order volume of this sector had grown well, from 86.7 million euros to 102.6 million euros, an increase of 18.4%. The backlog of orders also increased significantly by 53.4% to 83.3 million euros.
Non photon portfolio companies: increase in orders of automobile business in the third quarter
In the third quarter, the order volume of non photon portfolio companies mainly engaged in automobile business increased by 28.5% over the same period of last year. This almost offset the weak performance in the first half of the year, with orders of 109.3 million euros at the end of the first nine months (the previous year: 112.6 million euros). The backlog is still very high, 77.4 million euros (31/12/2021: 58.9 million euros). Nine months later, the development of the automotive industry has been weak since this year, which is reflected in a 5.2% drop in revenue to 91.1 million euros (the previous year: 96 million euros). In 2021, it still includes the revenue contribution of the non optical process measurement business, which has been sold in July 2021.
