There are several reasons why the chiller compressor may not start:
1. Check for external power supply and compressor input voltage
Check whether the input voltage of the power supply and compressor meets the standard requirements. Use a multimeter to connect the external power supply and compressor input voltage in AC mode to ensure that they are within this range. If they do not meet the requirements, measures should be taken to adjust them to the normal range.

2. The ambient temperature is too low
a. When the ambient temperature is too low (1-10 ℃),
b. When the ambient temperature is below 0 ℃, the use of the chiller should be stopped: because when the ambient temperature is below 0 ℃, the compressor oil becomes thicker and the lubrication performance deteriorates; At the same time, the condensation pressure decreases, and the refrigerant will not flow into the evaporator. If the chiller continues to be used, it may not work properly and may also cause damage to the compressor.

3. Check if the thermostat or main control board is functioning properly
a. Firstly, check if the temperature controller is functioning properly. If the compressor does not start, there may be a problem with the temperature controller. At this point, cut off the power and remove the temperature controller. Use a multimeter in the ohm range to measure if the power contact and compressor input contact are conductive (with a resistance value of zero, measure the corresponding contact based on the model and parameter label of the temperature controller). If it is conductive, check whether the temperature sensing tube of the thermostat is broken, cracked, or leaking. If so, replace the thermostat.

4. Overload protector malfunction
Use an ammeter to measure whether the starting and running current of the compressor is normal (the starting current is generally about 3 times the running current). If the current is normal and the overload protector is activated, the overload protector fails and should be replaced. On the contrary, the compressor is faulty.

5. Are the connection points of the compressor in good contact
Check how the PTC starter protector of the compressor is plugged in and re plug it for power on testing.

6. Internal malfunction of compressor
If the accessories of the compressor are tested to be normal, but the compressor still cannot start and the overload protector is activated (at this time, the measured starting current is too high), it is determined that the compressor is stuck or the compressor is holding the shaft, and the compressor needs to be replaced.

7. Compressor winding short circuit
Measure the resistance of the three terminals with a multimeter in the ohm range. If the resistance of one of the two terminals is zero or infinite, it indicates that the winding is short circuited or open circuited, and the compressor needs to be replaced.
Other factors that may cause the compressor to fail to start:
(1) Compressor motor inter turn short circuit.
(2) Poor temperature controller.
(3) The overload protector is faulty.
(4) The starting relay is damaged. Firstly, use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the compressor motor, which is normal. Then check that the temperature controller is in good condition and the overload protector is functioning properly. It is estimated that the starter relay is internally damaged. Use insulated wires to connect the starting terminal and the running terminal, and the fault disappears. It is determined that the starting relay is damaged.

Solution for chiller compressor not working
Check the temperature controller, temperature compensation switch, starter, overcurrent protector, and compressor itself
First unplug the power supply of the chiller, then set the temperature controller to the maximum value, and plug in the power supply. Observe whether the chiller compressor starts running. If it does, it means that the compressor is not faulty. If it does not run, the temperature controller is faulty. This situation is either due to a faulty compressor or a faulty thermostat. It is recommended to check the thermostat first.
