POM and nylon are two common materials for plastic gears. Many friends are always suspicious when choosing plastic materials. Should nylon be used as material? Or POM? Which is the right choice to achieve the maximum cost performance?
Competition between nylon and POM
Nylon has excellent comprehensive mechanical properties, especially impact resistance, abrasion resistance, resistance and temperature resistance.
1) Excellent mechanical function. Nylon has high mechanical strength and good resistance.
2) Good self-lubricating and conflict resistance. Nylon has good self-lubricating property, small friction coefficient and long service life as a transmission component.
3) Excellent heat resistance. High crystalline nylon such as nylon 46 has high thermal deformation temperature and can be used for a long time at 150 ℃. The thermal deformation temperature of nylon reinforced by glass fiber is above 250 ℃.
4) Excellent electrical insulation. Nylon is an excellent electrical and electrical insulation material with high volume resistance and breakdown voltage.
5) Excellent weather resistance.
6) Water absorption. Nylon has high water absorption, saturated water can reach more than 3%, which affects the dimensional stability of parts to a certain extent.
application
Nylon: Nylon can be basically used in all walks of life, but it is mostly used in the following occupations: car parts (because of its rigidity, heat resistance and conflict resistance); Office furniture; Mechanical parts (good corrosion resistance); Electronic appliances (excellent electrical function).
POM: POM is used in electronic appliances, mechanical parts, and parts with UV resistance requirements, especially in plastic gears, pulleys, bearings, and internal parts of cars.
